Niedawno zostałem zaproszony przez Uniwersytet WSB Merito (oddział w Chorzowie/Katowicach) do wygłoszenia wykładu na temat sztucznej inteligencji (AI). Wykład miał miejsce w dniu 18 o godz. 17:30. Zaproponowałem tytuł "AI - fakty i mity" uznając, że wykład bardziej techniczny jest dobry na rutynowe wykłady akademickie na uniwersytecie. Z drugiej strony nie chciałem tematu i wykładu epatującego nowinkarstwem, bo mamy tego zalew od 2 lat, dostrzegam natomiast od dłuższego czasu wiele problemów związanych z narracją wokół AI, często wprowadzającą mniej zorientowane w technikaliach AI w błąd, czasami o poważnych konsekwencjach realnych lub potencjalnych.
Tematyka obejmowała m.in. takie kwestie jak:
- Czy AI zastąpi programistów i czy warto studiować informatykę?
- Czym jest osobliwość (singularity) i czy AI osiągnie ten punkt?
- Czy AI posiada świadomość, a jeśli nie, to kiedy to się wydarzy?
- „Kreatywność” AI – przykłady z muzyki i sztuki
- Czy AI naprawdę rozumie znaczenie słów i zdań?
Jednocześnie jeszcze raz dziękuję wszystkim uczestnikom wykładu, wiem, że zapisało się na niego ok. 150 osób. Chcę także podziękować organizatorom za sprawność w przygotowaniu tego wykładu.
Deklaruję również, że wkrótce pojawią się na tym blogu o AI, zagadnienia będące rozwinięciem niektórych moich tez oraz zagadnień poruszonych w trakcie tego wykładu, a także rozwinięcie odpowiedzi na pytania niektórych uczestników tego wykładu.

Recently I was invited by WSB Merito University (Chorzów/Katowice branch) to give a lecture on artificial intelligence (AI). The lecture took place on September 18 at 6:30 p.m.. I suggested the title "AI - facts and myths" considering that a more technical lecture would be good for routine academic lectures at the university. On the other hand, I did not want a topic and lecture that would flaunt novelty, because we have had a flood of it for 2 years, but I have noticed for a long time many problems related to the narrative around AI, often misleading AI less versed in technicalities, sometimes with serious real or potential consequences.
The topics included, among others, such issues as:
- Will AI replace programmers and is it worth studying computer science?
- What is singularity and will AI reach this point?
- Does AI have consciousness, and if not, when will it happen?
- AI "Creativity" - examples from music and art
- Does AI really understand the meaning of words and sentences?
At the same time, I would like to thank all the participants of the lecture once again, I know that about 150 people signed up for it. I also want to thank the organizers for their efficiency in preparing this lecture.
I also declare that soon on this blog about AI, issues that are an extension of some of my theses and issues raised during this lecture, as well as an extension of the answers to questions from some of the participants of this lecture.
